Location: Non-office based (Lucan area)
Hours: 24 hours (flexible, based on needs).
We are seeking a committed, reliable and person-centred Personal Assistant to support a young adult with a physical disability to live independently, work, travel and participate fully in everyday life.
This is a varied and rewarding role supporting independence across home, work and community settings, including Dublin Airport and travel to activities such as Barretstown.
Key Relationships
You will collaborate with the person availing of our services and their family, fellow assistants (if applicable), and relevant Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) staff, including service coordinators and administrative teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
Personal Care & Daily Living
Mobility & Transport
• Drive an automatic vehicle (essential)
• Support with travel to and from work (Dublin Airport), appointments and activities
• Assist with vehicle upkeep (e.g. petrol, basic checks)
Health & Wellbeing
• Support attending gym and physiotherapy sessions
• Assist with exercise programmes
• Attend medical appointments as required
Home & Daily Tasks
• Assist with cooking and meal preparation
• Support with shopping and errands
• Help with laundry and changing bed linen
• Assist with organising daily routines and preparing bags
Education, Work & Social Participation
• Provide scribing support for forms or applications
• Support participation in work, training and social activities
• Promote independence, confidence and choice
Work Schedule
This role offers a schedule, which may include:
• Evening shifts (including airport collection)
• Daytime support (gym, physio, appointments)
• Weekend support
• Occasional additional hours to cover leave
A structured weekly schedule will be agreed, with flexibility required.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements:
• Full, clean driver’s licence (essential)
• Ability and willingness to drive an automatic vehicle
• Reliable, flexible and organised
• Strong communication skills
• Respect for privacy, dignity and independence
• Legal right to work in Ireland
• Willingness to complete Garda Vetting and mandatory training
• Confidence using basic technology
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
· Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
Basic Computer/Typing Skills
QQI Level 5 (Community Care or similar)
· Basic knowledge of technology to assist with daily tasks.

The position offers a flexible schedule based on the member’s needs. This may include daytime, evening, weekend, and occasional holiday shifts. Specific hours and days will be outlined in the service agreement.
Remuneration and Benefits
Starting rate: €16.22 - €18.03 per hour (depending on experience).
Premium rates for antisocial hours, Sundays, and public holidays.
Mileage reimbursement for inter-member travel.
